A season for miracles

Have you noticed the sun is already shifting in the summer sky to a new shorter day position? It makes me sad for even the beginning signs of summer's conclusion. I love winter only because it slows us all down a bit and makes us appreciate summer even more! The way the seasons work all over the world are an amazing miracle we get to witness everyday. 

In my community, we are currently praying for continuous miracles for more than a few people and you may be personally praying for miracles in your own life. It is quite fitting for the characteristic of God as Miracle Worker to be the praise focus of this month's prayer guide. You can find the printable August Prayer Guide with related scriptures below.

As I write this, “I've Witnessed It" by Passion and Melodie Malone comes to mind. I've added it to a free praise playlist on Spotify. May it be a welcomed addition to your personal worship time. 

Because I have witnessed miracles, I know they are possible. Praising God for His miracle-working power reminds us that nothing is impossible with Him—and our encouragement may become part of someone else's miracle story. Be generous with your encouragement.

Speaking of encouragement, I wrote Firm Foundation: Resilience After Trauma not only to be obedient to God, but to encourage the reader. I am so grateful God is using it to do that. It isn't topping bestseller lists—and that's okay. My prayer has never been about numbers. My prayer is for Him to place it in the hands of those who need encouragement and I am grateful to hear how He is using it.

Do you have my book and haven't started reading it yet? Human nature makes us not want to read something that will make us revisit places we think we have sealed off. But that is exactly what keeps us stuck…....and sometimes where the enemy wants us to stay. It is easy reading (8th grade level-ish) and short chapters with stories to help you digest the concepts. I am considering a group read-along for those who desire community and accountability. Would you respond and let me know if you would like to participate? In person (Mt Pleasant of course) or online? A potential start would be after the fleeting days of summer end.

On My Nightstand

The Bait of Satan by John Bevere When I am tired, I find that reading and listening at the same time works well for retention so I have this on Audible and in print. This book is about the most deceptive snare of Satan, offense. I bought the workbook as well and have recommended it to several friends already. 

Brighter than Before by Courtney Walsh This author was recommended to me by a friend at church and ChatGPT. I like “clean reading” and love a lighthearted, fun, and easy-to-read book that has a great storyline. The main character is rebuilding her life in a new city which requires courage on many levels. 

Miracle on Voodoo Mountain by Megan Boudreaux Have you ever read a book twice? I read this one a couple of years ago and my small group is reading it now. It is an amazing testimony to God, our Miracle Worker. God called the author to Haiti and is using her life to change the lives of orphans. Get this: God brought a new friend to our church who was actually a missionary in Haiti for ten years…proof that He adds to churches for a particular purpose. I am excited to see what lies ahead for my church.
